Summer Butterfly Card

Hope you are enjoying the bank holiday weekend. I had a fabulous day yesterday at a family photo shoot, can't wait to see the photos next weekend. Last night I had chance to colour in a few cards that I'd done expect for the colouring, here's one of them.

Recipe: I've used a digi image from Fairy dust crafts which is coloured in with Promarkers. I've cut out the butterfly and large flower using dies (Marianne Creatables) and the smaller flowers using punches (SU). I've added black rub ons to the paper and some black gems.

Oriental card

Time is flying I've had a wonderful two weeks off work spending time with my kids. We've had a great time, but it's back to reality this morning and up early for work again. The kids are having fun with their Grandparents this week getting spoilt no doubt.
I want to share with you my latest DT card for  Lexis Creations
We have a new challenge with is Oriental
Our sponsor is Letraset
Here's my card, I've used a digi image called Okichi designed by Lexi which you can find at Fairy dust crafts

Recipe: The digi image is coloured in with Promarkers. I bought the papers from The glitter pot  except the writing card which is from my stash. I'm not too sure where I got the other bits from either. I had to go raiding my stash to find things that went the theme/colour of the paper as it's not a colour scheme that I seam to use often I'd had the flowers and charms for a while
Don't forget to check out the other DTs oriental cards here

Another Christmas card with a handmade star

I've been playing again using another demo I saw at the quilt show I was at last weekend. This time it's with Angelina fibres.  I used the 'hot fix' fibres that fuse together when they are heated. I inked up a star stamp with Staz-on ink and layered the fibres on the top, covered the whole thing with parchment paper and ironed it for about 30 seconds. The heat makes the fibres form a fabric with the stamp design on, it can then be cut out. It took a while for me to get the iron to the right temperature, too cold and the fibres don't fuse and too hot and the fibres become dull.
Here's the final result

And this is the card I made using it:

Recipe: The stamp is from the new range at LOTV which I've coloured in with Promarkers. The papers are all from stash from last Christmas, the sentiment from Craftwork cards and I think the  poinsettia is from Papermania. I've also used some red stickles glitter in the corners.

First Christmas Card of 2011

Yipeeee I've make a start, I have completed my first christmas card for this year.
We have a new challenge over at CRAFT challenge for you which I thought would be perfect for a Christmas card. The new challenge (116) is:

Resist technique

If you are wondering what this is that Eiglas has done a fabulous tutorial on the challenge blog which can be found here
The sponsors this week is Sew Many digital stamps

This challenge got the DT stuggling a bit more than normal for our DT cards, but this is what I came up with using one of my favourite Christmas stamps from LOTV.

I made the star backing paper using the resist technique

Recipe: The stamp is from LOTV which I've coloured in with Promarkers and added some Stickles glitter. The sentiment stamp is from Little Claire designs. The snowflakes are punched. The white and silver backing paper is from Craftwork cards, the ribbon is from SU, the gems from Meiflower crafts and the flowers from my stash.

I've been playing again....

I've been away for the last few days  helping out at my parents stand  (cotton dreams) at the festival of quilts show at the NEC. It was pretty hectic, but I managed to have a quick look around the stands for things I can use on my cards. The first was some friendly plastic which I've already had a play with this afternoon. What do you think for my first attempt?
Gillian from Molton designs was demonstrating how to use the plastic. Things have changed a lot since I was a kid and remember playing with a stick of friendly plastic. You can find Gillians blog here which has loads of great ideas and some links to her Youtube video including one for the patchwork aquare that I've had a go at.

I've also got some clay to make embellishments and saw a fabulous demo of stamping onto Angelina fibres so that's my next things to have a go at.
